SLBFE MEDIA 07.02.2025-The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has issued an urgent warning to the public regarding an ongoing scam involving the illegal collection of money from individuals, promising employment under the defunct Korean E-8 visa category.
As of now, the SLBFE has not granted any approval to private employment agencies, individuals, or groups for employment or training related to the E-8 employment visa. Therefore, any agency or individual claiming to provide such opportunities is operating illegally.
Under the provisions of the SLBFE Act, those found conducting or supporting these fraudulent activities—including employment agencies, intermediaries, or individuals posing as agents—are subject to arrest, regardless of their status or rank.
The SLBFE strongly advises all Sri Lankan citizens to avoid falling prey to these scams. Those who engage in such illegal transactions, hoping to work abroad under the E-8 visa, risk losing their chance to work in Korea or any other foreign country.
Do not let fraudsters crush your dream of working abroad.
