New job opportunities for Sri Lankans in Japan

Japan’s ambassador to Sri Lanka, Mr. Isomata Akio, announced that Japan will be creating new employment opportunities for Sri Lankans in the near future. This initiative is part of Japan’s response to its increasing elderly population, which requires additional foreign workers. Mr. Akio expressed his appreciation for the training that Sri Lankans receive before seeking employment in Japan, as well as the positive contributions and hospitality of Sri Lankan youth.

 

During a meeting with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment Chairman, Mr. Koshala Wickramasinghe, both parties discussed their ongoing cooperation. Mr. Wickramasinghe expressed his gratitude for the employment opportunities Japan has provided and pledged his support for further collaboration in foreign employment. He also proposed expanding cooperation in sectors like economy and tourism, suggesting that the Sri Lankan community in Japan could help increase awareness of the country.

 

In accordance with an existing Memorandum of Understanding between the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau and IM Japan, air tickets were awarded to 25 individuals trained as Technical In-Service Trainees (TITP) in construction, manufacturing, cleaning management, and agriculture, as well as to 8 workers in nursing and construction under the Special Skilled Worker (SSW) category. Several key officials, including Mr. Inoue of the Japanese Embassy, Mr. Thamura of IM Japan, and SLBFE GM, DDP Senanayaka , AGM Senarath Yapa and officials, were present at the event
