The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLFBE) opens a Branch Office in Monaragala

The Monaragala District Center of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) was inaugurated on June 24, 2024, by the Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment, Hon. Manusha Nanayakkara. The center aims to provide numerous facilities and services to the migrant workers and their family. The inauguration included the official commencement of the center’s duties, marked by the minister unveiling a plaque and registering an individual for employment in Qatar.

This center, established at Monaragala, Bibila Road, Hulandawa, upon the request of the Minister of State for Foreign Employment Promotion, Mr. Jagath Pushpakumara, will offer various services. These include self-registration for foreign employment, complaint reserving, welfare facilities, foreign employment training, and other services typically provided by the SLBFE’s head office in Battaramulla. Special investigations are also among the services extended to the public through this new center.

In a gesture of support, Minister Nanayakkara provided financial assistance for the construction of a house for a migrant worker who became disabled while working abroad. The event was attended by notable figures including Minister of State for Foreign Employment Promotion Jagath Pushpakumara, Uva Province Governor M. Musammil, State Minister Vijitha Berugoda, Member of Parliament Kumarasiri Ratnayake, former MP Sumedha G. Jayasena, SLBFE Chairman A. M. Hilme, General Manager D.D.P Senanayake,AGM Anura Liyanwala and others.
