SLBFE Media 28.1.2025 – A significant meeting between the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) and IM Japan took place on January 28, 2025, focusing on expanding job opportunities for Sri Lankan migrant workers in Japan. The Chairman of SLBFE, Mr. Koshala Wickramasinghe, met with IM Japan’s Chairman, Mr. Kanamori Hitoshi, at the Bureau’s head office to discuss the ongoing recruitment programs and future initiatives.

During the meeting, both parties reviewed the progress of the Japanese job recruitment initiatives implemented by the SLBFE. They also explored new opportunities, particularly in Japan’s growing caregiving sector, where it was agreed that a specialized training pool for Sri Lankan workers should be established.

Mr. Wickramasinghe expressed his gratitude to IM Japan for their continued support in providing employment opportunities for Sri Lankans. He also urged the Japanese delegation to consider expanding job opportunities beyond the nursing sector, into other industries.Mr. Hitoshi commended the efficiency of the SLBFE’s recruitment process and assured that steps would be taken to offer more employment opportunities for Sri Lankans in the near future.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from both organizations, including Mr. D.D.P. Senanayake, General Manager of SLBFE; Mr. Senarath Yapa, Additional General Manager of International Affairs at SLBFE; Mr. Masanobu Komiya, Managing Director of IM Japan; and Mr. Hideti Thamura, General Manager of IM Japan’s Colombo Office.
